Who would have thought a year ago that quadcore android phones would be classified under budget in India. But all this seems to be turning to reality (thanks to Chinese manufacturers), finally Indian companies are bringing in quad core mobile’s that are typically below Rs. 15000 in India and are powered by Mediatek MT6589 quadcore processors. Not so long ago we also noticed Dual Core MTK6577 chipset processors flooding Indian markets and becoming huge success and it seems that the Indian companies are in line to launch quad core phones at earliest to enjoy the success.
The prices of these quadcore mobiles are extremely low when compared to other top quadcore mobiles available globally but these high priced mobiles also offer tons of other superior features that are still unheard in local indian quad core mobiles market. The mobile’s below in list have almost similar performances because all of them are powered by MT6589 processor and run on very similarly modified Android OS V4.1 (Jelly Bean). Also all the phone’s in the list are dual sim. The things that set these phones apart from each other are their Pricing, RAM, Display size and sharpness, Camera and Support.
So here is the list of Best Budget MT6589 Quad core Android Mobile Phones 2013 in India:
5. Xolo Q800
Xolo Q800, a Lava Mobile phone entity is the only mobile phone from the list that is currently easily available in the market (unlike other phones that you have to buy in “Black”). Xolo Q800 is powered by 1.2GHz Quadcore Processor with MT6589 chipset, PowerVR SGX544 GPU and has 1 GB Ram. The phone has 4.5 Inch QHD IPS display which supports 540 x 960 Pixels and upto 5 finger multi touch display which isnt typically impressive. The phone comes preinstalled with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and their is no news yet if the phone can be upgraded to Android OS V4.2. It has 8 MP Primary camera (don’t expect the camera to perform anything similar to other samsung or nokia mobiles) and 1 MP secondary camera which just does its job. The Xolo Q800 is powered by 2100mAh battery so you can expect a very decent backup here.
The phone is priced at Rs. 12499/- which looks like a great price for the device.
4. Zopo Libero HD
Zopo Libero HD is an offering from Chinese Zopo Mobile company which is relatively pretty popular in China. The mobile looks exactly like the clone Micromax Canvas HD A116 (we arent sure who copied from whom here). Also the specs of the phone are exactly the same as the much hyped Micromax Canvas HD A116. The phone is powered by 1.2GHz Quad-Core Mediatek MT6589 chipset and has 1 GB Ram. The phone has 5 inch IPS display which supports 720 x 1280 pixels and ppi density is still not known (but we expect it to be exactly same as that of Canvas A116 HD). The phone comes with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and no information is yet available if the phone would be upgraded to Android OS V4.2. Zopo Libero HD has dual camera, the primary camera is 8 MP and secondary camera is 2 MP. The phone has 2000 mAh standard battery and it should just be fine to last a day.
The phone is available for Rs. 12999/- which is almost Rs. 1500/- cheaper than Micromax Canvas HD A116.
3. Micromax Canvas HD A116
Micromax Canvas series has become immensely popular and the latest offering in Canvas series is Micrmax Canvas HD A116. The phone has very similar looks to that of Canvas A110 but it’s the specs and features that sets it apart from the old canvas mobile. Micromax Canvas HD A116 was announced in January 2013 and unfortunately is still not available in the market easily (because of certain issues with their manufacturing partners in China). The phone comes with 1.2GHz Quad-Core Mediatek MT6589 chipset and has 1 GB Ram. It has 5 Inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen which supports 720 x 1280 pixels and has 294 ppi pixels density. The phone has a decent screen but no Corning Gorilla glass is sure to cause a lot of issues for Canvas HD users in future. Micromax Canvas HD A116 comes with Android OS V4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) and would be upgradeable to Android OS V4.2 in future. It comes with 8 MP Primary and 2 MP Secondary camera (Quality again of the camera is going to be at par with high end mobiles Samsung, Nokia or other mobiles). The phone has 2000 mAh standard battery and it should just be fine to last a day.
The phone is available for Rs. 14500/- and certainly looks over priced when compared to the competitors and even more bad is low supply inventory from Micromax which is forcing retailers to sell it at a lot more higher prices. One thing that goes in favor of this phone is excellent support center network of Micromax throughout the country.
Also the phone is exactly similar to that of Zopo Libero HD in terms of specs so if you can’t wait to buy Micromax Canvas HD A116 than Zopo Libero HD is the best alternative and is definitely better value for money mobile.
2. UMI X2
Umi X2 Quadcore is another direct offering from Chinese company Umi. The phone is certainly the most powerful android device in the list. It comes with MT6589 Quad Core 1.2GHz processor and 2GB RAM. Also the phone has best display screen in the list of quad core phones in India, it has 5 Inch HD IPS Retina Screen which supports 1920×1080 Pixels and 441 PPI Pixel density and hence makes the screen extremely sharp and bright. Also the phone comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 Protection which would make the phone scratch proof to high extent. The phone comes with Android OS V4.1 and can be upgraded to Android OS V4.2 starting from April 2013. Umi X2 also has the best in class Camera that supports 13 MP primary and 2 MP secondary camera. Umi X2 has 2500mAh Battery which should give you a very decent backup.
The phone is priced at Rs. 14000/- which definitely makes it a great phone considering its extremely high end specs.
1. Jiayu G4
Jiayu G4 would launch in India as Ejiayu G4 and is certainly the best offering in the mobile phone market in India if Ejiayu is able to bring in the phone at the price they announced. Jiayu G4 has specs very similar to that of Umi X2, it runs on MT6589 Quad Core 1.2GHz processor with PowerVR SGX 544 GPU and has 2GB RAM. The phone has 4.7 Inch Retina display which supports 1280 x 720 pixels and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 Protection and OGS full lamination technology. Jiayu G4 comes with 13 MP primary and 2 MP secondary camera. Importantly the phone would come with 3000 mAh Battery which will give backup of almost 1-2 days on normal usage. The phone will come preinstalled with Android OS V4.1 and would be upgradable to Android OS V4.2.
Ejiayu has announced on their FB page that the phone would be priced at Rs. 9000/- which seems highly unlikely considering it’s price in China and specs. But even if the phone comes out with a price of around Rs. 12000/- it would still become an instant hit in the Indian market in Android phones segment.
