The world started with two individuals Adam and Eve and after thousands of years it is this where it has reached. The world today stands with more than 250 countries and around 7 billion people. Such a huge number of people spread over enormous carpet of this planet has given distinctive specifications to each region and country altogether. At present there are hundreds of languages being spoken in the world. Although with globalization the languages are not confined to a particular region or country any more . The secondary speakers of most of the languages are found through out the globe. Various organizations in the world have traced the origin of languages and identified the various dialects that exist to a language. The languages have been rated depending upon the number of speakers endorsing it. This includes the related dialects as well as the secondary speakers. The totality decides which language is most spoken. One such list was published by Ethnologue that till date is one of the most amazing language encyclopedia recording all the languages being spoken in the world with all their assets. Till date that is the 2013 edition they have recorded over 3000 languages. Based on the number of speakers the popularity of the language is decided. As per the Ethnologue list 2013 the following are the top 10 most spoken languages in the world.

10. German.

German is one of the most spoken languages in the country and number 10 when it comes to the top 10 languages. German is primarily spoken in most of Europe Union where it enjoys the official status. It is also spoken in various other parts of the world which are inhabiting German immigrants include Namibia, South Africa, Canada, Brazil and also USA. Various other countries also have German speaking population. German language is derived from other languages and mostly from Latin. It has the same English alphabets in its script but it has an added 3 more vowels so in all 29 alphabets. This language is also heard in Brunei and also is recognized as an official language in the country of Singapore. Considering the Malayan and Indonesian speaking populations the total number of speakers can be summed up to 163 million with 140 million as the primary speakers. But if off the records dialects are considered which are often treated as a separate language then the total speakers of this language would be around 215 million or more.

Portuguesehas been repeatedly called by authors and poets as a “sweet” language. It has been compared to a flower- sweet and beautiful. Portuguese is an official language in 9 countries some of them being Portugal of course as well as in Brazil, Cape Verde , Angola and some other countries. It is also spoken in India in the states of Daman and Diu as well as in Goa. Portuguese has a total of 190 million speakers out of which around 178 million are native to the language. The world’s largest Portugal speaking group is found in Brazil in the state of Sao Paolo. It also hosts a museum dedicated to the beauty of the language.
