Yash Chopra is very often indentified as the “King of Romance”. People learned love by watching his films. There are 50 and above Bollywood films under the production banner “Yash Raj Films”. He was director of more than 20 films in his career. He was not only a director, but he also was a screenwriter and a film producer. He won many awards but his major honors were six National Film Awards, Padma Bhushan Award honoring his contribution in Bollywood also Indian Cinema, and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. 8. Darr: A Violent Love Story
This film was released in 1993 and was a psychological thriller and a romantic one. The cast of the movie was Shahrukh Khan with Juhi Chawala and Sunny Deol. The movie was a blockbuster and earned a lot at the box office. The performance of Shahrukh Khan as a villain is considered as his one of the best performances. The budget of the film was 1.5 crores and it surprisingly made 19.25 crores approximately at the box office (excluding overseas). This was Shahrukh Khan’s first film and collabration with the banner – the Yash Raj Films and with Yash Chopra. The story of the movie is about obsessive love and the image of the conventional hero was redefined.
Chandani was released in 1989 directed by Yash Chopra after a few flop films. This movie is one of the most popular films and most watched films of the Bollywood. The film has Sridevi, Rishi Kapoor with Vinod Khana as the cast. The film received many awards including Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. The music of the film was also very great and was enjoyed by everyone. This overall goodness of the film bought large profit for Yash Chopra.

This was a super-duper hit film of 1975 starring Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Neetu Singh, Nirupa Roy and Praveen Babi. The Filmare Best Movie Award was awarded to Deewar along with six more Filmfare Awards in other categories. Amitabh’s role in the movie gave him a title of “angry young man” which is well known till date. The movie was considered as a ground-breaking work.
2. Daag: A Poem of Love
This movie was based on the novel “the Mayor of Casterbridge”. This movie was again a top grosser of the year and did amazingly well at the box office. The movie starred Sharmila Tagore, Raakhee and Rajesh Khanna. The film was awarded two Filmfare awards. Besides the director of the film he also was a producer of the film. This was his first film as a producer. The story of the movie is based on a man who convicted murder and tries to run away from the law. Even the music of this movie was very amazing and was a hit on the music charts.
Yash chopra started his career with a movie named “Dhool ka Phool”. But the film was not a major hit. His third film was “Waqt”. Yash Chopra received Best Director award at the Filmfare that year. This movie initiated the concept of multi-stars. The Hindi cinema then onwards started a lead of multi-starrer movies. Yash Chopra initiated this trend for Bollywood and thereafter he became one of the best film directors in our country.
